NEW CZ Pipe Welding Preparation Blades
GTS are delighted to introduce the latest Premium addition to our pipe-prep blade family. After months of extensive trials both in house and on site,our brand new COBALT/ZIRCONIUM blades(CZ for short)were launched recently.

A brief overview
CZ RANGE DEVELOPMENT
Our original M42 blades are comparable in tool life and performance to others in the industry,so in order for us to get an “edge” on the competition,we had to innovate.
Trials with different geometries and coatings resulted in small but insignificant improvements.
A new approach was needed
The next stage,in collaboration with our steel supplier involved experimenting with the “standard” M42 grade chemical make up.
We did’nt want to lose the “toughness” which cobalt provides, but we wanted to add something to the mix which would help to dissipate the heat from the cutting edge, as our investigation highlighted this as the main cause of tool failures of most M42 blades in this application.
Among other additions,we found that Zirconium in particular,in the right ratio, provided us with the best solution which would allow us to out-perform the “competition” and also vastly improve the machining of notoriously difficult material pipes,such as Stainless Steel etc.
After exhaustive testing,and feedback from our customer’s trials in house and also in less than ideal surroundings on site,we now believe we have found the perfect combination of performance and tool life,meaning,across the complete range, the new CZ blades are consistently out-lasting like for like alternatives in the market (ours included) by between 2-6 times resulting in less downtime and more productivity and potential cost savings to the customers
